Mobile app

Ideation work for a better experience on the X app's welcome screen.

Initial Observations

At first, it became evident that X’s home screen lacked proper characterization and failed to establish a meaningful first impression.

The screen does not welcome the user or provide any incentive to continue with the sign-in or onboarding journey.

Opportunity for Improvement

The home screen should act as a gateway to engagement. It needs to:

  • Spark curiosity about the platform

  • Clearly communicate the app’s purpose or value proposition

  • Reflect the brand’s personality in both tone and visual language

  • Offer a memorable and inviting experience that aligns with user expectations

Currently, the absence of contextual messaging or interaction cues creates a disconnect between the user and the product’s identity.

Design Recommendation

This screen must be redesigned to serve as a strategic touchpoint, not just a transitional one. It should:

  • Use language and visuals that reflect the brand’s voice (friendly, bold, professional, etc.)

  • Introduce core benefits or app features at a glance

  • Offer a clear path forward — whether that’s signing in, exploring, or learning more

By rethinking this entry point, we can set the tone for the entire user journey, improving both perception and engagement from the very first interaction.
